So the other night, I went down a rabbit-hole of ADHD and somehow arrived at this 80’s bro rock band opener named “Totty,” apparently playing a lineup with Ted Nugent.
Now–let’s call it 80’s bro rock…I’ve never been a real fan.
I remember when I was a teen in the 90’s one hot weekend night at the Tulare County fair in central California, I somehow ended up at an Eddie Money concert with my dad and my brother, and Mr. Money has talent for sure.
But I couldn’t square that music with my 90’s grunge and metal CD collection, so I never went down that tight-pansed path…
So I’m watching this little guy Totty on Youtube (after running through a chain of 10 sequential prior events which had no logical connection to Totty, nor to each other)–and I arrived at this tight-jeaned little lad, and I mean he is pretty small and skinny and scrawny.
Little bro likely got picked on all the way through high school, poor thing.
But when you see him on stage, he transforms into this snarly kind of rabid little animal that, if it doesn’t scare you, would at least cause you to respect the aggression and keep a healthy distance.
And it got me to thinking about how context makes all the difference.
Words have context.
Objects have context.
Social relationships, and the patterns we inherit, have context.
And little Totty, when taken out of context, might be scrawny.
But in his element, he’s an animal.
And I don’t know about you, but I want to be an emmeffin animal!
